2024 Student Leadership Development Summit

We are excited to announce the new annual Student Leadership Development Summit (SLDS), taking place at the new NBSP-HQ in Washington DC from August 7th-11th, 2024! Follow us on Instagram, FaceBook, LinkedIn, and X (Twitter). Use hashtag #SLDS2024

ABOUT

NSBP has partnered with the National Society of Hispanic Physicists (NSHP) to host a student-organized and intensive workshop to support the next generation of underrepresented minority (URM) pioneers in physics and astronomy. The 3-day program is designed to enhance Black and Brown student leadership acumen through interactive workshops and panels on grantsmanship, project management, implicit bias, mentorship, and effective communication skills. At SLDS, participants build leadership, communication and management skills that scientists and other technical professionals need to express ideas to their peers, experts in other fields, and the general public, as well as lead and manage projects.

Why apply?

  • Join a community of scholars who are passionate about becoming a leader in the field of physics and the broader STEM community
  • Learn skills that are rarely taught in formal academic settings like scientific grant writing, science communication, and leading teams
  • Develop the knowledge, skills and attitude necessary to navigate academic, research, government and industry spaces
  • All participants will be provided the opportunity to have their professional headshots captured

APPLICATION

Apply now to attend SLDS in Washington DC. The application for the workshop can be found here and is due on June 1st at 5 pm EST. For additional questions please contact slds@nsbp.org. Please note that accepted applicants will be required to pay a $100 registration fee, which includes r/t travel, lodging and most meals.
