In early 2014, NSBP honored the legacy and memory of its long-time member and friend Dr. Carl A. Rouse, whom passed away on February 25, 2014, by developing the Carl Rouse Fellowship Memorial Funds.  The Memorial Fund was initiated in collaboration with his family.

The first fellow, Ms. Carell Hamil (New York University) who was selected out of 11 applicants, received support this summer while working at Caltech. Hamil’s Fellowship work focused on the design and construction of the optical setup and the feedback control systems for the measurement of crackle noise in gravitational wave detectors.

NSBP appreciates the donations made in memory of Dr. Carl Rouse and look forward to providing support to numerous future Fellows.  Donations in his honor can be sent to the National Society of Black Physicists, The Carl Rouse Fellowship Memorial Funds, 3033 Wilson Boulevard, Suite 700, Arlington, VA 22201.
